Rising above the Pacific Ocean is Clipper 'America", a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser operated by Pan American World Airways in the 1950's, the largest operator of the Stratocruisers. It was assigned to the nine hour Los Angeles to Honolulu route. The aircraft was later renamed Clipper 'Golden Gate'.

The B-377 was based on the B-29 bomber from World War Two. It was known for its luxurious accommodations and extra wide cabin. It had two levels that could be accessed by means of a spiral staircase. The airplane cruised at around 300 MPH and carried between fifty and one hundred passengers in comfort.
